This month, we're starting a series about some of the reasons we love living in Seldovia! We'll share what is amazing about being a part of a small town in Alaska, and discuss the many economic, community and outdoor opportunities. We'll recount a few personal stories about why over 20 years ago, we chose to raise our children here and make Seldovia our home! We look forward to sharing our experiences and answering your questions as well!
We're also looking forward to showing you around our website Seldovia.com. Here you will find so much information about our community, with access to contacts and all the businesses here! We are working on bringing new webcams online so you can check in on, and "see" Seldovia from wherever you are! This last month, we added a new harbor cam that gives you a great peek at the fish cleaning station and all the activity - mostly in the summer! We also added our Ferry Cam - located at the intersection of Dock Street and Main (a view from our window) where you can see our Alaska Marine Highway's Tustumena ferry come into serve our community! We are so thankful for this service, and it's fun to see the process of loading and unloading! Do check out the time-lapse video located on the home page that was taken on the 23rd of March 2023. Our Ferry Day when the tide was a -2.7 low and 32.8 ft high! We have big tidal swings in our bay! We didn't catch it all on video, but it is fun to see the action of the tide, the ferry, the sky and yes, all the people getting off and getting on the ferry! Seldovia, is Alaska's Best Kept Secret - that, my friends is no joke!
