Disappointed, yes. We had so loved our visit to Seldovia in May, and we couldn't get it out of our minds... We kept talking to Susan B English school - but soon summer was upon us, and everyone was on break. We kept scouring the internet and talking to folks in Seldovia to ask about possible position openings, to no avail. Then, about 2 weeks before school was to start, we got THE call - from the Boys & Girls Club! They offered Sonny the position, and hoped he could start as soon as possible. Thankfully, they proposed a salary that would make it possible for a family of five to survive in Seldovia! We knew that it was not for financial gain that we were making this move to Seldovia - it was truly all about lifestyle! But first - Sonny had to call his principal and superintendant about releasing him from his teaching contract! Fortunately, they had applicants for his position and they wrote a glowing recommendation and were willing to release him stating that he'd always be welcome back in the district! It was awesome that they understood we were following our dream! We couldn't wait to call the owner of our sweet cottage on Bootlegger's Cove and let him know we were ready to put in an offer - we had secured a job in Seldovia! It was all coming together!
My husband excitedly made the call. Everything happens for a reason right? Well, we were about to be disappointed once again. This is not a fictitious account of the facts, this is the absolute truth... the sellers had signed the agreement to sell their cabin that very day! THE cabin was sold! So, now we had a job in a town that was close to our dream home that we could no longer buy! OH MY! Couldn't even believe it! Next challenge was to find a rental...
